ONE MONTH IN GREECE

Our month in Greece was the culmination of a three month long van trip in the middle of 2020, one of our best trips so far. Exploring the entire Adriatic Coast including Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and Albania, we finally reached the ‘drivable’ perimeter of Southern Europe via North Macedonia and Bulgaria.

Arriving in the small coastal town of Nea Peramos near Kavala, we recovered for a few days with plates of Gyros and local red wine before heading West. We spent a week or so in the Chalkidiki peninsular, where we bathed in the crystal clear water of Kavourotripes, camped on deserted beaches and thoroughly enjoyed the home made Raki from Sabi and his accomplice Achilles in Polychrono.

We continue our journey via Thessaloniki, through the mountain ranges surrounding Mount Ossa, Pelion and Othrys and back to the Coast at Itea in the Gulf of Corinth. We eat more Greek salad and Souvlaki than we can remember and finish our journey in Patras where we board the ferry back to Venice.
