Temples & Ceremonies
The 40 year anniversary of Pura Dalem temple in the village of Petulu, Ubud took place in July 2022. Preparations for this festival lasted more than 3 months, involving the whole village including men, women and children. The temple was adorned with the most extravagant flower decorations, traditional Balinese umbrellas and incense.
During the festival week, various groups of villagers performed traditional Balinese dancing, gamelan music could be heard until late into the nights, and many blessing ceremonies were held. The inside of the temple was overflowing with offerings.
As is still tradition in Bali, animal sacrifices were made, including the blessing and subsequent slaughtering of a cow, a buffalo, a pig, a sea turtle, a chicken, a duck and many more.
